SIXTY YEARS OF FARRELL FURNITURE

For more than 60 years, Farrell Furniture has combined traditional expertise with dedicated service, sustainable production methods, and innovative design-led thinking. This has earned the company its reputation as market leader in designing, manufacturing and fitting the highest quality commercial office and contract residential furniture.

Currently run by brothers Paul and Brendan Farrell, the second-generation family business has never been slow to adapt and re-invent itself. Coming into their third generation, Farrell Furniture continues to pair innovation and tradition, maintaining its reputation as market leader in innovative, design-led furniture solutions for commercial office and contract residential spaces.

From their state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Co. Louth, to their dedicated in-country support teams, the company has come a long way since it was founded by Ollie and Paddy Farrell in the shed of their family home in Ardee, in 1961.

Throughout their 60 years in business, Farrell Furniture has been faced with a series of challenges, including Brexit and the global pandemic. However, the Farrell family’s adaptability allowed the company to not only survive during these times, but to flourish.

In 1978, Farrell Furniture purchased their second site on the River Dee with the purpose of building a factory to manufacture office furniture. By 1983, the company had fifty employees and had begun to manufacture office furniture. Farrell UK Ltd was established in 1994, with offices located in Gloucestershire, as well as a showroom in Surrey. Today the company has a dedicated staff of seven people based in Yorkshire focusing on sales, design, and project delivery for UK clients.

Since then, Farrell Furniture has been dedicated to producing the finest furniture for commercial offices and contract residential spaces in Ireland and the UK. The family run business successfully blends 60 years of expertise in the art of furniture making with modern scale and production capability. From their factory to their clients’ floor, Farrell Furniture delivers the highest quality products and solutions customised to their clients’ needs and spaces.

Farrell Furniture understands the difficulties that come along with large-scale commercial and residential fit-outs, and that face the decision makers who want to update their current office space, or fit-out a new space. As a design-inspired furniture solutions provider, Farrell Furniture curates environments for user needs and ergonomics, while ensuring style and functionality through high-performance craftsmanship.

As a leading contract residential furniture manufacturer in Ireland and the UK, Farrell Furniture has earned an expert reputation for their design-led and bespoke kitchen, bedroom and communal living furniture solutions. Their insightful designers, crafters and makers produce the highest-quality furniture for the highest-spec developments, bringing architects’ and developers’ visions to life.

Farrell Furniture has extensive experience in delivering purpose-built student accommodation, which has earned their reputation for innovative student units, both self-contained and shared living spaces encompassing kitchens, bedrooms and study areas. Farrell Furniture’s complete interior planning service puts design at the centre. With their initial site survey uncovering environment specifics such as acoustics, space and cabling; their 3D rendering, 2D layouts and provision of sample materials and finishes gives you a complete interior blueprint, tailored to your precise requirements.

For Farrell Furniture, sustainability is considered in every aspect of the production process. As an active member of the Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC), Farrell only uses FSC certified wood, chipboard and MDF. Farrell also ethically source as much of their other materials locally where possible, or from sustainable sources. When working with veneers they try to use sustainable Cherries and Oaks as opposed to over-forested Mahogany and Teaks, and rely on solvent-free polishing and varnishing techniques.

As a member of REPAK, Farrell Furniture has adopted full end-to-end recycling and repacking, with their goods inwards and outwards process. The company also adheres to WEEE in relation to all their electrical machinery and appliances. Farrell Furniture have installed energy-efficient LED lighting throughout their production facility in Ardee, and also burn their wood waste and offcuts to generate heat for the factory and offices.

When required to use metal in their products, Farrell Furniture’s designers and crafters rely on aluminium as opposed to steel, which is an easier material to recycle. Their manufacturing team also uses low-emission, chemical-free glues during our assembly process and they adopt lean principles through their manufacturing process which contributes to waste reduction.
