TODD ARCHITECTS, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH ARUP, LAUNCHES CHARITY ARCHITECTURAL PHOTOGRAPHY AUCTION

Whether you’re interested in architecture, urban development or just high-quality photography, TODD Architects is offering you the chance to own prints of works by some of the UK and Ireland’s leading architecture and property photographers. At the end of ‘In Common’, a photography exhibition taking place as part of this year’s London Festival of Architecture, the public are invited to bid on the prints displayed, with all proceeds going to charity.

The exhibition, hosted by TODD Architects in partnership with Arup, features works by Janie Airey, Anthony Coleman, Martina Ferrera, Chris Hill, Martine Hamilton Knight, Danica O. Kus, Joe Laverty, Paul Lindsay, Donal McCann, James Newton, Kilian O’Sullivan, Jim Stephenson, Morley von Sternberg, Edmund Sumner and Sophie Wedgewood. In addition, there is a signed work donated by the contemporary British photographer, Hannah Starkey, who has collections held by the Tate Modern and the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Each photographer has kindly donated the images on display to allow them to be auctioned during the latter stages of London Festival of Architecture to raise funds for the Jill Todd Trust1, a charity set up by TODD Architects’ founder Barrie Todd, in memory of his daughter Jill.

Jill’s promising career in photography, which was publicly acknowledged as being that of an “emerging talent in Scotland”, was tragically cut-short one year after graduation when at the young-age of 23 her life was taken by cancer. In commemoration of Jill’s very talented, active and personable life, her Edinburgh-based tutors, friends in the photographic world and her family established the Jill Todd Trust the objectives of which are:

• To raise funds to assist research into finding a cure for cancer;
• The promotion of the art of photography;
• The promotion of early careers in photography.
The online auction commences on 16 June and the virtual hammer will fall at midnight, 30 June 2023. Bidders are advised to check each item on the auction website for specific print and size details2. The auction website can be found at: auctions.toddarch.com/collections/auctions

The exhibition is free to attend and further details can be found here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/london-festival-of-architecture-photography-exhibition-in-common-tickets-639372419117

Peter Minnis, Director, TODD Architects, said: “We are delighted to be hosting the ‘In Common’ photography exhibition, with Arup, as part of this year’s London Festival of Architecture. The wonderful imagery produced by some of the UK and Ireland’s leading architectural and property photographers, interprets this year’s Festival theme in many different ways, but also highlights what we have in common by exploring our shared experiences of the built environment. We would like to thank each photographer for kindly donating the images on display to allow us to auction them to raise funds for the Jill Todd Trust. I hope you enjoy the auction and please bid as often as you like!”
